About the Recipe:
The Weeks Burger was created by John Weeks back in the days of the Great Depression. It became a very popular burger in the Southeast region of the United States of America. This recipe was adapted for modern ingredients by John Weeks (a descendant of John Weeks – the creator of the Weeks Burger), and the photo(s) provided were taken by him as well.
Ingredients:
- Ground Pork (1/2 lb)
- Corn Meal (1 cup)
- Flour (1/3 cup)
- Salt (1 tbs)
- Water (1 to 2 tsp as needed to make mixture more pliable)
- Vegetable Oil (1 cup)
Instructions:
- Mix dry ingredients
- Add ground pork
- Mix until well combined
- Add water if too dry (but not too much)
- Flatten into thin patties
- Fry in vegetable oil on medium heat until just beyond golden brown
- Enjoy on a plain bun with cheese, pickles, onions (optional), and mustard
